Our tour schedule is set out below:

You will take a flight from Delhi to Bhunter/KULLU (included in your trip).

Your tour guide will meet you at the airport in Bhunter and the group will be transported via private vehicle to Jhibhi/Tirthan. This is a small quaint village close to the town of Banjar. After we arrive we will have lunch and you will be able to get some rest. In the late afternoon, we will explore this Himalayan village with heritage buildings made of stone and wood. This village among others are classic Himalayan architecture and located near the entrance of the Great Himalayan National Park. Dinner will be in our hotel.

LODGE: Dev Conifers Green

Over the next three full days, we will explore the surrounding villages in search of some of the most spectacular Pheasants on earth. Each day we will have an early breakfast and set out for the network of pathways and trails surrounding the villages. A variety of bird species reside here and one of our primary targets would be the endangered Western Tragopan among other Pheasants. Each day, depending on the path selected we will return to our hotel for lunch or carry box lunch with us. The trail selected on any given day will depend on information received from our guide’s network of other local guides and informers, notifying him of recent sightings in specific areas. This will drive which trails and villages will be explored on which day. Each day we will return to the lodge for dinner.

LODGE: Dev Conifers Green

We have breakfast and spend the morning relaxing and birding in our village before driving to the entrance of the Great Himalayan National Park. We will have lunch in a tiny village near Ghusaini, the park’s entrance. The gates to the park is walking distance from here and we will be staying here for the following four full days. We will take the opportunity to explore the village and the trail leading to the park in the afternoon.  Dinner will be in our homestay.

LODGE: Devat Farm Cottages

Over the next four days, we will go into the depths of the Great Himalayan National Park. Each day will require an early breakfast to facilitate an early departure. Our guide and porters will have ready made tents and camp set up by the end of each day. Freshly made meals will be served daily made by the onsite cook. Lunch will be pre-packed and we will take this with us where necessary or, depending on the trail we can return to camp for lunch. Each day we will move deeper into the park searching for birds and wildlife and the best photographic opportunities. Here we expect to see many of the over 200 species of birds that call this park home along with many species of wildlife.

During these three full days, we will be staying in make-shift camps in expedition style. This park is high altitude and the pace will be very slow to ensure we enjoy our time.

LODGE: Expedition Camp in the Great Himalayan National Park

After an early breakfast and a morning of birding the trails of the Great Himalayan National Park, we will slowly make our way back to Ghusaini. Depending on our pace and luck with sightings, we may have lunch made in the park. If we arrive at the park’s entrance early, we can unwind in the village and have lunch here in the village. Flexibility will be the key in these types of remote trails where we explore expedition style. After lunch, we can relax and/or explore the immediate area if desired.
