Climate: We will be moving across regions on this tour. Agra has mild winters and we can experience chilly temperatures during the period of our tour between November to February. In Ranthambore National Park the temperature can be as low as -2 degrees Celsius. The days are sunny and very beautiful and is considered the best time to visit the park.
Accommodation: We will utilize a combination of park lodges, hotels and homestays on this tour. All will be considered a minimum of first class and rating of at least 4 stars plus. All accommodations will have western style toilets and conveniences while preserving the local culture.

RANTHAMBORE TIGERS, BIRDS & TAJ MAHAL TRIP DETAILS
India is one of the most fascinating destinations on the planet. The country is home to ancient trade routes, vast empires, ancient religious practices and one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world amongst other things. The colourful saris, turbans and aroma of spices adds to the excitement.
On this tour we will visit some of the great birding sites of India. The Keoladeo National Park is considered a top spot for bird watchers. We will visit and spend an entire day photographing the “jewel of Muslim art”, the Taj Mahal which sits on the banks of the Yamuna River.
We will visit Ranthambore National Park, one of India’s top reserves where the elusive Bengal Tigers can be seen roaming the forest. Birding in this park is also a joy, with many species and endemics.
Whatever your reasons are for coming to India, this tour will definitely be able to exceed all your imagination.
Our tour schedule is set out below:
DAY 1: DELHI – BHARATPUR / KEOLADEO NATIONAL PARK:
You will be picked up at a central location or your hotel by the Tour Leader early in the morning and we will have breakfast in Delhi. We will then drive from Delhi for about 3 hours to Bharatpur where we will have lunch on arrival. You will have the chance to relax and check into your hotel after which we will head to the famed Keoladeo Park for the afternoon. This protected sanctuary is home to many specials of mammals and birds. It attracts a large amount of watering fowl and migratory birds. Exploring this park is usually on foot or via a rickshaw available at the gates. Here you can find Blue Bulls, Spotted deer, Samba, Nilgai and birds such as Storks, Cormorants, Green-footed Pigeons, Jacanas, Kingfishers and much more. Dinner will be in our hotel.

DAY 2: BHARATPUR / KEOLADEO NATIONAL PARK:
The next morning we will have an early breakfast and depending on the level of fog we will leave immediately and head towards Keoladeo Park where we will spend a full day searching the edges of the many ponds for a variety of species of birds and mammals. We can consider a rickshaw to make faster progress and go deeper into the park. We will have pre-arranged lunch in the park at the most convenient time. We will return to our hotel in the late afternoon where we will have dinner.

DAY 3: BHARATPUR – FATEHPUR SIKRI – RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARK:
We will have breakfast between 7:00 am and 8:00 am and we will drive towards Fatehpur Sikri. We will stop and explore this ancient city for a couple of hours before we heading south towards the Tiger park, Ranthambore. On arrival we will have lunch or depending on the number of stops for sightseeing lunch will be in a restaurant along the way. On arrival at our lodge we will check in and relax. In the afternoon we will do some birding in the immediate areas around the park and around our lodge.

DAYS 4-6: RANTHAMBORE TIGER RESERVE: BIRDS, TIGERS & WILDLIFE
We will spend the next three full days in this park enjoying the jungles of Ranthambore. Each day we will have an early breakfast and head out for morning and evening tours, searching for Tigers, other mammals and a variety of birds. We should have the opportunity to capture stunning images of these animals. We may have the opportunity to see Leopards, Sambar Deer, Hanuman Laguna, Macaques, Sloth Bears, Jungle Cats and much more. Each day we will return to the lodge after the morning tour ends and have lunch and relax and enjoy the surroundings of the lodge before heading out again for the afternoon tour.
A different route will be taken for each tour and this depends on the weather, fog and recent sightings of Tigers and other wildlife. These factors drive where we go each day to maximize our chances of sightings and photographic opportunities. Ranthambore is one of the top places to see wild tigers and after each evening tour, we will return to the lodge to relax and have dinner.

DAY 7: RANTHAMBORE – CHAMBAL RIVER:
We will have breakfast between 7:00 am and 8:00 am and leave Ranthambore. We will drive north east to strategic spots along the Chambal River. We will have lunch along the way. On arrival in our safari lodge, we will check in and head out to the trails for a nature walk, searching for birds in this area. Here we expect to see River Lapwing, Bonelli’s Eagle, Red-napped Ibis, River Terns, Black-bellied Terns, Indian Eagle-owl and much more. Dinner will be at our hotel in the late evening.
HOTEL: Chambal Safari Lodge
DAY 8: BIRDING CHAMBAL RIVER:
We will have breakfast and set out for an early morning safari along the Chambal River and National Chambal Santuary where we will pass through the Sarus Crane Wetland in the company of a trained naturalist and your tour leader. We will return to the lodge for lunch and relax at the lodge before heading out once more on an afternoon safari, seeking different locations and vantage points for optimum viewing. We will return to the lodge in the late afternoon for dinner.

DAY 9: CHAMBAL RIVER – AGRA:
We will have breakfast very early in the morning and head out towards for another safari along the Chambal River. We will have lunch in the lodge and drive towards the town of Agra in the afternoon. We will check into our hotel and relax for the afternoon. Dinner will be in our hotel.

DAY 10: AGRA/TAJ MAHAL PHOTOGRAPHY
We will have an early breakfast and head towards the Taj Mahal for early morning photographs. We will spend an entire day at this site for photography in different angles. Lunch will be at a restaurant along the way. On arrival in Agra, we will check into our hotel and where w will relax and have dinner.
We will leave the Taj Mahal and drive to strategic spots away from the site where we can photograph this iconic monument from different angles. We will also have the opportunity to photograph different areas around Agra. We will return to our hotel in the late afternoon for dinner.

DAY 11: AGRA – DELHI
We will have breakfast and spend the early hours of the morning photographing the town of Agra and other spots along the banks of the Yamuna River where great photos are possible.
Your tour ends on arrival at the airport for departure.
IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER
PLEASE NOTE: All individuals are responsible for checking VISA requirements and obtaining the necessary travel documentation for entering India prior to arriving.
Most of the terrain is easy. Some of the birding will be done by driving the tracks in a vehicle and stopping at strategic spots. However, where hiking is required even though it is considered easy to moderate, we strongly advise that moderate level of fitness be attained before embarking on this tour. Regular exercise prior to your trip is advisable. Remember you may be hiking and outdoors for long periods in some cases and although the pace will be very slow you may be carrying camera equipment, meals and water where applicable. To ensure your maximum enjoyment a moderate level of fitness is advisable.

The days are sunny and very beautiful and is considered the best time to visit the park. Rain can be expected at any time.
WHAT TO BRING:
Hat, camera and equipment, binoculars, sun block, rain jacket, hiking boots, fleece for colder nights and temperatures as low as -2 degrees celcius, small back pack for box lunch and water, bug spray.
This tour involves the use of a minibus and the group size is restricted to a maximum of ten (10). This would indicate a lot of room. However, for flexibility during the tour, ease of travel and convenience for all participants on the tour, baggage is restricted to two (2) medium sized suitcases per person plus a handbag/carry-on. This tours takes us to various lodges and moving personal belongings every few days.
